Meet our Staff Coquitlam/Tri-Cities

Arthur Murray Staff hold certification with the World Professional Dance Teacher's Association (WPDTA) and/or the Canadian Dance Teachers' Asscociation (CDTA).

Coquitlam/Tri-Cities Arthur Murray Teachers:

Christy - Instructor

Christy brings a remarkable energy and enthusiasm to our teaching team. She has been an avid dance enthusiast her whole life. Christy’s dance background includes jazz and interpretive dance in addition to Ballroom and Latin dancing. She has had the opportunity to hone her Latin dance skills working with professionals in Cuba, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

An experienced performer, Christy’s musical theatre credits are many: performing, directing and choreographing in such productions as “Broadway Fever”, “Wizard of Oz” and “Guys and Dolls” among many. Her competitive theatre awards include many top placements both as an individual and in group competition.

Arthur Murray Coquitlam/Tri-Cities is proud and thrilled to have such a dynamic and well versed personality to help you achieve your dance goals.

Johnny - Instructor

Johnny is keenly interested in people and their personal development on a holistic level - the balance between our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves.

He is an avid reader with an interest in books focusing on personal development, psychology as well as human behaviour, communication and interaction.   He has diplomas in varied disciplines such as Business Management, Life Skills Coaching and Wellness Counselling and Computer Information Systems and has tutored pupils in such fields as computer skills, math and accounting and was an official instructor for Young Drivers of Canada.

While Johnny loves doing yoga and Tai Chi, he has also participated in competitive sports such as captain of Maple Ridge Knights football club and has earned a variety of medals in dragon boat racing.  He also enjoys ultimate Frisbee, rollerblading, skiing and indoor hockey.

Johnny’s skills in human relations combined with his commitment to helping others to become all that they can be is a great asset in our studio and we are fortunate to have him as part of our Arthur Murray team.

Barbara Lynn - Instructor

Barbara Lynn started dancing ballet at the age of 4 and added jazz, tap and figure skating soon after.  Her first professional performance was in the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company’s version of the “Nutcracker” at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at the age of 10.

Not long after, she joined the professional division of the Vancouver Goh Ballet and later the training company.  She toured China with the company in 1994. Her education has included coaching with trainers from the Royal Winnipeg and National Ballet Schools.

Barbara Lynn also has experience in modern, contemporary as well as Irish dancing.  She has fallen in love with Ballroom and Latin dance styles and brings not only her amazing dance background and love of movement but also her fun personality to our school.

Hugo - Instructor

Hugo started his dance training in Mexico with hip hop and break dancing when he was a late teen. As his passion for dance became more serious, he joined a studio and trained in latin dancing becoming an instructor in Mexico City.

Hugo’s performance credits are many.  He has had the opportunity to participate in many television shows and competitions in Mexico and was a member of the entertainment teams in several all inclusive resorts on the Mexican Pacific coast.  This involved dancing in the nightly shows, leading dance classes as well as promotional tours throughout the United States.

In addition to his extensive dance experience, Hugo’s charming and easy going nature is a pleasure to be around and all of us at Arthur Murray Coquitlam/Tri-Cities are very excited to have him as part of our team.

Brooke - Instructor

Brooke has been dancing since she was 13 years old.  She has studied many forms of dance including jazz, ballet and musical theatre in addition to ballroom and latin.

Having grown up in the northern BC town of Prince George, Brooke attended the University of Northern British Columbia and graduated with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Environmental Studies.  After graduation, while working in her chosen field, she found she missed dancing and the opportunity to share her love of dance with others.  She found her way to the Lower Mainland and to Arthur Murray Coquitlam/Tri-Cities.

Brooke is a bright and focused instructor with a commitment to excellence and we are thrilled to have such an enthusiastic individual as part of our team.
